PEDAGOGICAL BIOGRAPHISTICS AS A DIRECTION IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF UKRAINIAN HISTORICAL-PEDAGOGICAL SCIENCE AND COMPARATIVE STUDIES (LATE 20th – FIRST QUARTER OF THE 21st CENTURY)

Abstract
The article elucidates the methodological foundations for studying foreign pedagogical figures in Ukrainian pedagogical science, which, during the era of independence, has evolved not only through an active search for new innovative education models and the intensification of accumulating historical-pedagogical knowledge but also through the exploration of the myriad of issues related to pedagogical biographistics as a distinct field within domestic pedagogical science. It has been noted that scholars, while analyzing the prerequisites, formation, and development of pedagogical biographistics, paid little attention to issues associated with the representation of personalities of foreign cultural-educational figures in Ukrainian pedagogical science during the 1990s – the first quarter of the 21st century. The article characterizes the theoretical-methodological foundations outlining the conceptual-categorical framework of pedagogical comparative studies and draws the conclusion about the necessity of studying the personalized aspect in Ukrainian pedagogical comparative studies as an integral component of pedagogical biographistics, thereby singling out a significant body of studies on personalities of foreign cultural-educational figures into a separate stream within Ukrainian pedagogical comparative studies. The authors hypothesize that this research direction might establish itself as the “personalized direction of comparative pedagogy, the “biographical approach within pedagogical comparative studies”, and so forth. Its primary focus would be on foreign pedagogical figures as holistic scientific-pedagogical phenomena, encompassing components such as personal biography (life trajectory intertwined with a complex array of factors and conditions socio-political, familial, socio-cultural, etc. that shaped their personal, creative, and professional evolution); creative accomplishments; professional-pedagogical, organizational-educational, and socio-enlightening activities; as well as their role and contribution to the global development of pedagogical thought and education, among other aspects.
