Abstract
Le présent rapport contient une revue des résultats obtenus par les pays africains les moins avancés (PMA africains) dans huit domaines prioritaires du Plan d’action d’Istanbul et une évaluation de leurs perspectives de sortie de la catégorie des pays les moins avancés (PMA). Le rapport de 2018 revêt une importance supplémentaire, parce qu’il coïncide avec l’examen triennal de 2018 des PMA, un processus qui évalue l’admissibilité des pays à l’inclusion dans la liste des PMA ou à la sortie de cette liste. Le Programme d’action d’Istanbul reconnaît que tant les PMA que leurs partenaires au développement doivent faire des efforts particuliers, si l’on veut que ces pays soient à même de transformer de façon durable leurs économies et passer, dans les délais, dans la catégorie des pays à revenu intermédiaire et dans celle des pays à revenu élevé. Il est important de noter que, outre le Plan d’action d’Istanbul, les PMA africains sont en train de mettre en œuvre aussi à la fois le Programme de développement durable à l’horizon 2030 et l’Agenda 2063.
