Syftet med den här studien är att jämföra det alignment man finner i ṭuroyo, turo1239, ett semitiskt språk som talas i sydöstra Turkiet och i diaspora med klassisk syriska, clas1252. Syriska är ett utdött semitiskt språk som fortfarande används i den syrisk ortodoxa kyrkans liturgi. Metoden är en kvalitativ metod då den analyserar mönster i alignment i ṭuroyo. Syriska är ett ackusativt språk medan ṭuroyo är ett språk med kluven ergativitet. I presens är språket ett ackusativt språk där (S) och (A) behandlas på samma sätt och (P) markeras med en annan strategi. Samtidigt är det ergativt i vissa konstruktioner i perfektivt preteritum. I ergativa språk behandlas (S) och (P) på samma sätt och (A) markeras med en annan strategi. Sedermera sägs språket ha tripartit eller dubbelt oblik alignment i vissa konstruktioner i preteritum. Tripartit alignment är när de tre argumenten (S), (A) och (P) markeras på olika sätt, tydligt från varandra. Vissa forskare har kallat ṭuroyo tripartit men det har snarare dubbelt oblik alignment då (A) och (P) markeras på samma sätt. Språket har även vissa inslag av Split-S.
