Abstract
Dolgozatomban látható, hogy Magyarországon – bár nem zökkenőmentesen, de – az új közigazgatási mezoszint a megyék mellett működik. \nA terület- és településfejlesztési törvény kétségkívül nagy eredménye volt a tervezési-statisztikai régiók létrehozása, s a regionális politika intézményrendszerének felállítása. Mintaként szolgált a többi társult közép-kelet-európai ország jogalkotása számára, a magyar területfejlesztés több évtizedes hagyományait sikeresen ötvözte az Európai Unió strukturális és kohéziós politika szabályaival. Azonban számos hiányosság és felmerült vele kapcsolatban, melyeket meghozatala és módosítása óta sem sikerült orvosolni. A szabályozásban legalább annyi problémát hagyott, mint amennyit megoldott. \nA NUTS 2 régiók létrehozása döntéshozói- és intézményrendszerükkel együtt megtörtént, az ország alkalmazkodása az uniós regionális politikához folyamatos. \nA régiók ma még ugyan nem képviselik az azonosulás tereit – így lényegében csupán intézményi elemeknek tekinthetők –, e helyzet javulásának útjában azonban nem látok akadályt.
