Eficacia de la implantación de lentes intraoculares de foco extendido: Revisión sistemática y meta-análisis.

Abstract
El incremento de cirugía de cataratas a nivel mundial, ha producido un aumento \nen el diseño e investigación de nuevas tecnologías de lentes intraoculares. Actualmente \npodemos encontrar principalmente tres tipos diferentes de ellas: monofocales, \nmultifocales y de foco extendido. En la presente revisión sistemática y meta-análisis \nanalizaremos y compararemos la eficacia visual que ofrecen las lentes intraoculares de \nfoco extendido y lentes intraoculares trifocales y monofocales. Se analizaron un total de 27 artículos después de que se aplicaran criterios de inclusión y exclusión. Para su evaluación de calidad se utilizó la Newcastle-Ottawa Scale para \nestudios no aleatorizados y el algoritmo “Cochrane Risk of bias” para los estudios \nclínicos aleatorizados. Se obtiene similar agudeza visual en lejos en \npacientes implantados con lentes intraocular de foco extendido que con monofocal o \ntrifocal. Sin embargo, su agudeza visual es mejor que los implantados con lente \nintraocular monofocal tanto en distancia intermedia como cercana, y peor que los \nimplantados con lente intraocular trifocal en dichas distancias. Concluimos que el \npresente meta-análisis ofrece todavía más evidencia sobre la capacidad visual de cada \ntipo de lente intraocular, permitiéndose una mejor asesoría al paciente que desea \noperarse a la hora de seleccionar la lente intraocular que más se acerque a sus \nnecesidades visuales diarias.
