The faces of the other in Aeschylus’ «Persae»
Bibliographic record
Abstract
The subject of this study is the Other at the heart of Greek tragedy. This Other is a protean figure, one with many faces, including: divinity, death, violence, madness, and monstrosity. With the help of Julia Kristeva's theorization of the abject, this thesis approaches that Other through laying out a theory of its faces. At the centre of this theory is the homosocial world, the realm of culture and its system of shared perception and signification/representation.The Other, like the abject, is beyond direct perception and thus signification. It is that which must be kept at a certain distance because it threatens to destroy the subject who confronts it as well as the system which maintains that subject in/and signification; it threatens to make the subject Other to him/herself.The project of this thesis is to explore and develop the theory of this Other through Aeschylus' Persae.Through an analysis which focuses specifically on divinity, madness, and monstrosity, all the faces of the Other are found to be both at work in this tragedy and closely related.L'objet de cette tude est la reprsentation de l'Autre dans la tragdie grecque.L'Autre est une figure inconstante avec de nombreuses facettes : le divin, la mort, la violence, la folie et la monstruosit.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one teacher head, not a consensus.
