Abstract
Réalisation d'une étude sur l'implication du trotteur dans des accidents domestiques chez les enfants de 5 à 18 mois après observation d un incident de type brûlure chez les enfants de 5 à 18 mois, à Melun en mai 2007. Le trotteur est article de puériculture très apprécié des parents dont ils pensent qu il favorise l apprentissage de la marche tout en permettant une certaine autonomisation.Très peu connaissent ses dangers : En effet l enfant, placé en trotteur, acquiert une mobilité et une vitesse non maîtrisées à son âge ainsi qu un accès facilité aux objets dangereux ou toxiques sources d un nombre important d accidents domestiques liés à son utilisation.Malgré les campagnes de prévention passives et les modifications des standards de sécurité au cours de ces vingt dernières années, les accidents domestiques ont perduré, ce qui a conduit le Canada à en interdire la vente. Les autres pays occidentaux se sont contentés d'imposer aux industriels des normes de fabrication et la fourniture de notices de bon usage . Cette étude se propose d'analyser le rapport entre l'utilisation du trotteur sur la population étudiée, ainsi que le nombre d'accidents domestiques liés à son usage et les connaissances des parents sur les risques de son utilisation. Les résultats de l'étude confirment l engouement des familles pour le trotteur avec un taux d utilisation de 61% et son implication dans la survenue d accidents domestiques soit 12% avec le plus souvent des atteintes du pôle céphalique. On constate ausii une méconnaissance tant des parents que du personnel médical et paramédical, des risques de son utilisation.Il parait souhaitable que ces risques font l'objet d'un complément d'information dans la brochure de l INPES relative aux accidents domestiques.
