Abstract

-- \nABSTRACT : The globalization of markets and the economy encourages many companies to enter foreign markets in search of opportunities. The majority is made up of Small and Medium Enterprises and their target is the emerging Asian market, in this case China, which offers technological advantages, but also opportunities for the workforce. However, other unpredictable factors can make companies hesitant to go international. To succeed in foreign markets, companies perform acts that allow them to circumvent any obstacle to achieving their goal. On the other hand, they face many difficulties due to lack of information or ignorance of the internal or external risks associated with internationalization. Indeed, several risk factors are associated with the process of internationalization of SMEs, in particular those in the marine resource processing sector. Few companies master all these risks that can compromise the achievement of the objectives of internationalization projects, hence the need to identify and analyze them in order to manage them. For this, a multiple case study is used to allow the managers of these SMEs to have more information on the difficulties that await them in this process and thus adopt the right risk management strategies and mechanisms. To achieve our research objective, we used a multiple case study on two companies involved in the processing and marketing of marine resources located in Quebec City, based on semi-structured interviews conducted with the two managers of these companies. The information from this interview allowed us to know that the internationalization of SMEs in the maritime sector faces enormous difficulties and risks within or outside the company. Risks arising outside the company are exogenous factors related mainly to political, economic, cultural and legal aspects as well as to characteristics of the foreign market and to difficulties in collecting payments from customers. Risks associated with Endogenous factors are inherent to the company and are composed of risks related to the experience of the management team, the resources of the company, the commitment of the managers, the logistical and operational aspects and the non-existence of a network. However, this study showed difficulties in finding relevant information for SMEs in the marine sector, which is why we adopted an exploratory study. Nevertheless, it would be necessary in the future to carry out quantitative and qualitative studies both in order to increase the chances of finding more elements and to enhance scientific studies on the sector of processing and marketing of marine products. -- Mot(s) clé(s) en anglais : Risk, risk management, internationalization, project, uncertainty, exogenous factors, endogenous factors, case study, attitude to risk.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
