Le Secrétaire exécutif par intérim de la Commission économique de l'Afrique, Abdalla Hamdok, a signé ce samedi, un Protocole d’accord avec le Mécanisme africain d’évaluation par les pairs pour établir un partenariat continu en vue d’apporter un soutien aux objectifs et priorités de l'Union africaine et des Nations Unies. Le Mécanisme africain d’évaluation par les pairs a été créé en 2003 par le Comité de mise en œuvre des chefs d’État et de gouvernement (HSGIC) du Nouveau partenariat pour l'Afrique (NEPAD) en tant qu’instrument de suivi des résultats en matière de gouvernance au sein des États membres. Le Mécanisme africain d’évaluation par les pairs est un instrument d’autosuivi et son adhésion se fait sur une base volontaire. M. Hamdok déclareque les domaines clés de coopération porteront sur l’appui de la CEA à la mise en œuvre du Plan stratégique 2016-2020 du Mécanisme africain d’évaluation par les pairs et des programmes ultérieurs qui pourraient être élaborés à l'avenir et toutes les activités et missions relatives aux processus d’examen national qui relèvent du mandat du Mécanisme africain d’évaluation par les pairs.
