Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

The reality facing immigrant children in the Canadian school system is the subject of this article, as cultural diversity is evermore becoming one of the fundamental characteristics in Canadian schools. Even though representation in Canadian schools is changing, programs keep being developed for a mono-ethnic population. Adding to the controversy are the ethnic minority teachers being under-represented, teaching personnel from the nostalgic majority conveying prejudice on immigrant children, and lack of proper preparation for the future teachers to meet the urban ethnocultural diversity’s learning needs. Instead of being considered an asset, this diversity is viewed as an extra problem to manage. For this reason, immigrant children are more likely to drop from school or go through academic failures.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
