La présente recherche s'intéresse à la sous-représentation des étudiants en formation initiale des maîtres appartenant à des minorités ethnocuturelles.Au Québec comme au Canada, on constate une sous-représentation des Québécois appartenant à des minorités ethnoculturelles dans de nombreuses institutions et professions, notamment dans la profession enseignante au primaire.Notre recherche s'inscrit dans la continuité de ce questionnement.Nous présentons une revue de littérature sur l'état de la question et un volet empirique incluant 11 entrevues semi dirigées, réalisées dans 2 universités différentes, auprès d'étudiants issus de minorités ethnoculturelles et inscrits en formation initiale des maîtres, portant sur leur vécu universitaire et sur les facteurs qui ont influencé leur choix de la profession enseignante au primaire.Les résultats offrent des pistes de recherche et des recommandations potentielles qui pourraient permettre aux facultés d'éducation de diversifier leur clientèle et d'améliorer la rétention des étudiants de minorités ethnoculturelles, contribuant à la diversification du corps enseignant.Mots-clés.
