Abstract
Étudiant à la maîtrise en histoireAdrien Arcand (1899-1967) est un journaliste, politicien et auteur québécois qui marque les années 1930 au Canada par la virulence de son antisémitisme teinté d'une idéologie fasciste, nazie et ultracatholique 1 .En raison de ses prises de position, il est emprisonné durant presque toute la Seconde Guerre mondiale, de 1940 à 1945 2 .Libéré de prison, il ne renie en rien son antisémitisme ; au contraire, il profite du nouveau contexte historique pour adapter celui-ci.Il adopte alors un discours révisionniste et participe au développement du négationnisme, ce courant idéologique niant l'Holocauste et que Gisèle Sapiro définit comme une « métamorphose moderne de l'antisémitisme 3 ».Depuis son virage antisémite en 1929 jusqu'à sa mort en 1967, Arcand a été la figure d'extrême droite la plus connue au Canada.Il tente aussi de se faire élire aux élections fédérales de 1949 et 1953 comme unique candidat du
