Notre rfrence ISBN: 0-612-88384-1 L'auteur a accord une licence non exclusive permettant la Bibliothque nationale du Canada de reproduire, prter, distribuer ou vendre des copies de cette thse sous la forme de microfiche/film, de reproduction sur papier ou sur format lectronique.L'auteur conserve la proprit du droit d'auteur qui protge cette thse.Ni la thse ni des extraits substantiels de celle-ci ne doivent tre imprims ou aturement reproduits sans son autorisation.Conformment la loi canadienne sur la protection de la vie prive, quelques formulaires secondaires ont t enlevs de ce manuscrit.Bien que ces formulaires aient inclus dans la pagination, il n'y aura aucun contenu manquant.Low-Power Low-Voltage High-Speed ilL ADCs Rsum Les exigences pour les systmes de communication, portables ou autres, allant crescendo, deux dfis majeurs se sont imposs pour la conception des Convertisseurs Analogiques-Numriques (CAN), desquels, en particulier, les modulateurs architecture Delta-Sigma (M~L).Le premier dfi consiste en l'extension de la gamme de frquence pour inclure les applications requrant des bandes passantes dpassant le Mgahertz.Par ailleurs, tendre la vitesse oprationnelle des M~ est rendu encore plus compliqu par la diminution perptuelle des dimensions fondamentales des transistors.En effet, il est prdit par l'Association de l'Industrie Semiconducteur (SIA) dans sa "feuille de route" pour la technologie de CMOS, que la dimension fondamentale des transistors atteindra 0.05 ~m en 2011.Avec cette diminution dans la longueur fondamentale et, par ricochet, dans la tension d'alimentation, la modlisation des transistors devient beaucoup plus subtile.Aussi, la dviation des circuits de leur comportement idal devient plus prononce.En consquence, la conception des principaux blocs analogiques qui minimise le temps de mise en march devient trs complique.D'o le second dfi.Ces deux problmes seront adresss dans cette thse par le biais d'une nouvelle mthode de conception qui minimisera le cycle de conception des CAN architecture ~L pour les applications hautes frquences.L'efficacit de cette mthode sera dmontre par l'implmentation de deux modulateurs intgrs performants utilisant une figure de mrite largement adopte.La validit de la mthodologie de conception top-down a t vrifie par la fabrication de deux circuits intgrs (IC) prototypes en technologie CMOS de 0.18 J.tm de TSMC.Le premier prototype correspond un CAN architecture ~L du quatrime ordre et un seul II Last but not least, a heart felt thank you for my parents: Riad and Fadia, brothers: Sobhi, Ahmad and Ziad, and sister Samar.Your constant support, patience
