Abstract
Il Macbeth di Shakespeare tradotto in francese canadese dal poeta Michel Garneau nel 1978 offre diversi spunti di indagine sul piano linguistico e traduttologico rispetto alle principali questioni che interessano il teatro in traduzione. Questo studio si sofferma sulle implicazioni del concetto di oralità in una pratica traduttiva che spesso sconfina in varie forme di adattamento. In particolare, prende in esame la specificità di un’operazione che appartiene a una fase della storia canadese in cui il teatro diventa laboratorio di ricerca identitaria, e che trova legittimazione critica attraverso il metadiscorso dell’autore-traduttore sullo statuto della trasposizione.
