Creen que la minería es una ocupación peculiarmente malsana. El cuadro popular de un trabajador subterráneo lo muestra agachado en un socavón estrecho, fatigándose a la luz de una lámpara inadecuada casi invisible en la humedad, rodeado de una atmósfera de polvo y cayéndole una gotera en el oído izquierdo.
