E' stato effettuato uno studio retrospettivo su un gruppo di 76 cani presentanti versamento pericardico, escludendo i casi in cui il versamento era causato da scompenso cardio-circolatorio, patologia pericardica congenita e alterazione della coagulazione. Il gruppo è rappresentato da cani appartenenti a diverse razze, con prevalenza di cani meticci, seguiti dal gruppo di cani di razza Pastore Tedesco, Golden Retriever, Labrador Retriever, Boxer, cane Corso, Bulldog Francese ed altre razze. I soggetti, prevalentemente di sesso maschile (50/76),hanno patologie pericardiche raggruppabili nelle categorie: tumore della base cardiaca (HBT), emangiosarcoma (HSA), pericardite idiopatica (PI), pericardite costrittiva (PC), mesotelioma, linfoma. Tra questi 58/76 soggetti avevano indicazione al trattamento chirurgico di pericardiectomia e 33/76 lo hanno effettuato. Sono state studiate le complicanze peri-operatorie relative all'intervento, la sopravvivenza mediana totale e fra le categorie. Fra le complicanze osservate, 3/33 cani hanno presentato deiescenza/sieroma della ferita, 21/33 cani hanno presentato aritmie ventricolari durante l'intervento, con esito infausto (fibrillazione ventricolare) in 1/21 soggetti aritmici. Attraverso l'analisi Kaplan-Meier, si è evidenziata la sopravvivenza mediana di tutto il gruppo dei trattati di 21,26 mesi (min 2,26-max 47,66 mesi); l'analisi della sopravvivenza mediana suddivisa per categorie ha evidenziato: PI 24,23 mesi (min 2,26-max 47,66 mesi), PC 18,64 mesi (min 8,76-max 27,76 mesi), HBT 18,58 mesi (min 8,8- max 36,73 mesi). A retrospective study on a group of 76 dogs with pericardial effusion has been carried out. The cases where the pericardial effusion was caused by heart failure, congenital pericardial disease and clotting dysfunction have not been included in the group. The totality of the cases was represented by dogs predominantly male (50/76) and were belonging to different breeds, with prevalence of mixed breed dogs, followed by the German Shepherd group, the Golden Retriever group, the Labrador Retriever group, the Boxer group, the Cane Corso group, the French Bulldog group, and other breeds. These subjects had pericardial diseases such as heart base tumor (HBT), hemangiosarcoma (HSA), idiopathic pericarditis (IP), constrictive pericarditis (CP), mesothelioma, lymphoma. Among them, 58/76 subjects had indications of surgical treatment of pericardiectomy and 33/76 subjects had it done. The surgical complications and the total median survival have been analysed. Among the complications that were observed, 3/33 dogs had dehiscence or seroma of the wound and 21/33 dogs had ventricular arrhythmia during the surgical procedure. One of the 21 dogs with arrhythmia had a fatal outcome due to ventricular fibrillation. The Kaplan-Meier analysis highlighted that the median survival of the group surgically treated was 21.26 months (min 2.26; max 47.66 months). The median survival analysis divided by categories showed: IP 24.23 months (min 2.26; max 47.66 months), CP 18.64 months (min 8.76; max 27.76 months), HBT 18.58 months (min 8.8;max 36.73 months)
