Abstract
Qu'est-ce que c'est ou « De quel instrument jouez-vous ?» Selon la défi nition proposée par le Conseil international des musées (ICOM), la muséologie est la discipline qui regroupe les sciences et techniques du musée : la gestion, la recherche, la conservation, le classement, la mise en valeur des objets, œuvres ou patrimoine (les collections), I'animation, l'éducation, etc. Elle étudie notamment I'histoire et la fonction sociale que I'on attribue aux musées (recherches, éducation, etc.), leur typologie, leurs sites, etc.Au Québec, la muséologie s'enseigne à tous les échelons des études supérieures, du diplôme d'études collégiales au doctorat.Du fait d'une discipline très éclectique, d'un éclatement récent de la notion de patrimoine et d'une évolution spectaculaire des méthodes et moyens de conservation, l'enseignement de la muséologie propose une grande diversité d'approches, allant des recherches les plus fondamentales aux actions les plus pragmatiques.Au quotidien, le terme surprend souvent les gens qui y sont confrontés pour la première fois, et il n'est pas rare qu'on nous dise : La muséologie, ah oui !Et de quel instrument jouez-vous ?1.
