Cette thèse a pour visée principale de faire avancer les connaissances concernant les différences entre les personnes présentant un trouble lié à l'utilisation d'une substance unique (les monodépendants)et ceux présentant un trouble lié à plus d'une substance (les polydépendants). L'étude comprend deux grands objectifs. Tout d'abord, la comparaison des dépendants à une seule substance versus ceux dépendants à plusieurs substances quant à leurs motivations de consommation et leur personnalité (premier article, Chapitre III). Ensuite, la comparaison de ces deux groupes de consommateurs quant aux variables prédictrices de la rechute (deuxième article, Chapitre IV). Des entrevues d'évaluation clinique ont été effectuées auprès de 433 patients admis à la Clinique du Nouveau Départ, à Montréal entre janvier 2006 et janvier 2013. De plus, ces patients (253 monodépendants et 180 polydépendants) ont répondu à une série de questionnaires standardisés et de tests psychométriques post-admission et ont été suivis jusqu'à 12 mois par la suite. Les résultats du premier article montrent qu'il y a des différences dans les motivations de consommation entre ces deux groupes. De plus, il appert que les personnes ayant le même profil de personnalité présentent des motivations de consommation différentes selon qu'elles appartiennent au groupe monodépendants versus polydépendants. Les résultats du deuxième article indiquent que les prédicteurs de la rechute ne sont pas les mêmes dans les deux groupes, hormis pour la consommation de tabac, qui semble être unfacteur relié à la rechute dans les douze mois post-admission chez les deux groupes. \n \n \n______________________________________________________________________________ \nMOTS-CLÉS DE L’AUTEUR : \nmotivations de consommation, personnalité, rechute, polyconsommation,monoconsommation.
