Abstract
Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli selvittää, millaista on elää homoseksuaalisena miehenä tämän päivän Lapissa ja sitä kautta tuoda esiin, miten ihminen kohtaa sekä pitää yllä omaa seksuaalista identiteettiään. Esimerkkinä on hoitoalalla toimiva lappilainen mies, jonka arkipäivän kokemukset viimeisten vuosien aikana Lapissa ovat olleet pohjana tälle työlle. \n \nTutkimusote on ollut laadullinen ja aineiston olen käsitellyt sisällönanalyysin keinoin. Tavoitteena tällä tutkimuksella on lisätä suvaitsevaisuutta ja ymmärrystä seksuaalivähemmistöjä kohtaan. Työn hyödynnettävyys ilmenee siten, että se tarjoaa kaikille omaa hyvinvointiaan arvostaville käytännön keinoja oman seksuaalisen identiteetin hallintaan. \n \nTämän tutkimuksen lopputuloksena voi todeta, että hoitoalalla toimiva seksuaaliseen vähemmistöön kuuluva ihminen joutuu käytännössä laittamaan oman seksuaalisen identiteettinsä koetukselle ja kasvattamaan omaa kärsivällisyyttään oman seksuaalisuutensa vuoksi. Samalla tämä tutkimus tuo näkyviin, että eläminen Lapissa homoseksuaalina miehenä voi olla tasapainoista ristiriidoista huolimatta, kun oma asenne on maltillinen ja suvaitsevainen.
