Abstract
En natación durante el período de tiempo comprendido entre los años 2008 y 2009 tuvo lugar una revolución tecnológica, respecto al material textil de los bañadores utilizados en competición. Este material principalmente es el poliuretano. La incorporación de dicho elemento a los bañadores permitía que al usarlos se tuviera una mayor flotación y una mejora hidrodinámica, con lo que los récords del mundo del momento fueron batidos con relativa facilidad. Estas plusmarcas mundiales han permanecido durante largos períodos de tiempo sin batirse, algunas más que otras. Sin embargo, tan sólo hay 2 pruebas en las que hoy en día siguen vigentes los récords del mundo tanto en categoría masculina como en femenina desde el año 2009.Estas pruebas son los 200m libres y 200m mariposa en piscina de 50 metros. El objeto de este trabajo es, por lo tanto, analizar el ritmo de prueba de los 200m libres y 200m mariposa en ambos géneros, previo al uso del poliuretano cogiendo como referencia las finales de los JJOO de Atenas 2004 y el Campeonato del Mundo de Montreal en 2005. En la época del poliuretano tomaremos los datos de las finales de los JJOO de Pekín 2008 y el Campeonato del Mundo de 2009 en Roma. Y por último para analizar el por qué de la permanencia de esos récords del mundo actualmente, tomaremos como referencia las finales de los últimos JJOO de Río de Janeiro 2016 y el último Campeonato del Mundo en piscina larga antes de la realización de este trabajo en Budapest 2017.
