Abstract
Em discussões recentes sobre a identidade quebequense, a referência à americanidade toma-se incontornável. O Quebec partilharia com o resto da América uma mesma cultura da novidade, da errância, da hibridação. O presente texto se interroga sobre os limites de tal abordagem. A idéia de uma sociedade sem filiação, encontro de todas as diferenças não seria uma idéia própria às Américas, mas uma idéia que está no próprio fundamento da modernidade. As sociedades modernas, por outro lado, em sua história efetiva, tiveram que inscrever esta pluralidade de pertenças em um universo de sentido. A maneira de estar em sociedade descrita pela americanidade quebequense se refere finalmente à experiência histórica singular da América estadunidense, não a de uma cultura partilhada pelo conjunto dos povos da América.Résumé: Dans les discussions récents portant sur l’identité québécoise la référence à l’américanité devient incontournable. Le Québec partagerait avec le reste de l’Amérique une même culture de la nouveauté, de l’errance, de l’hybridité. L’idée d’une societé sans filiation, brassage de toutes les différences n’est pas une idée propre à l’Amérique, mais une idée au fondement même de la modernité. Les sociétés modernes par ailleurs, dans leur histoire effective, ont dû inscrire cette pluralité des appartenances dans un univers de sens. La manière d’être en société décrite par l’américanité québécoise se réfère finalement à l’expérience historique singulière de l’Amérique étatsunienne, non à celle d’une culture partagée par l’ensemble des peuples d’Amérique.
