Abstract
En 1969, la religiologie émerge comme un évènement significatif dans l’environnement culturel, épistémologique et sociopolitique du Québec. Pourquoi est-il significatif ? C’est ce que ce mémoire s’est attelé à comprendre à partir d’une analyse des préoccupations des premiers religiologues définissant ce nouveau champ d’étude interdisciplinaire en sciences humaines. Pour comprendre, questionner et réfléchir aux croyances au coeur de ces préoccupations, une méthode, la théorisation ancrée, a été mobilisée, appuyée d’un cadre théorique partant des représentations sociales et rejoignant une anthropologie du savoir. Ce mémoire montre ainsi comment les premiers religiologues se représentent distancer leur objet d’étude fonctionnel par rapport au sens commun et au fond traditionnel théologico-philosophique duquel ils proviennent, pour s’engager à définir et à transmettre leur nouvel objet à la société québécoise et l’ancrer dans l’englobante vision scientifique du monde fabriquée par les sciences humaines. La signification culturelle que représente la religiologie est symétrique à la représentation d’un processus scientifique et historique que se représentent les premiers religiologues uqamiens. Cette représentation s’ancre dans une vision cosmologique et scientifique du monde qui incite à se poser de profondes questions sur les ambitions sotériologiques inhérentes au projet des sciences sociales, sur les conditions d’existence des sciences humaines et enfin, sur les paramètres étudiables de la portée du travail scientifique et de ses rapports avec la mémoire d’un passé « à dépasser ». _____________________________________________________________________________ MOTS-CLÉS DE L’AUTEUR : Théorisation ancrée, Représentations sociales, Cosmologie scientifique, Culture scientifique, Religiologie, Sciences des religions
