Cette recherche se penche sur la mobilisation de l’enjeu de la laïcité dans les discours de la Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) lors de la campagne électorale provinciale de 2018. Nous avons analysé un corpus formé des extraits de discours officiels du parti et de son chef portant sur le port de signes religieux. Pour trianguler ces résultats et mieux les poser dans leur contexte, nous avons également procédé à des entretiens semi-dirigés. Nos résultats relèvent les principaux arguments de la CAQ pour justifier sa position sur l’enjeu du port de signes religieux. La communication de ces arguments participe selon nous à produire et reproduire certains sens perçus de la laïcité, des signes religieux, et des religions minoritaires au Québec, en particulier la religion musulmane. Nous relevons également de nombreuses corrélations entre la littérature sur le marketing politique et la stratégie de communication de la CAQ autour de l’enjeu du port de signes religieux, soulevant ainsi la possibilité que cet enjeu ait été mobilisé à des fins de communication stratégique. _____________________________________________________________________________ MOTS-CLÉS DE L’AUTEUR : analyse critique de discours, communication politique, marketing politique, laïcité, nationalisme
