Fernando Iazzetta es profesor en el área de Música y Tecnología del Departamento de Música de la Escuela de Artes de la USP y coordinador del Laboratorio de Acústica Musical e Informática (LAMI). Es investigador del CNP y coordinador del Postgrado en el Área de Musicología en la ECA /USP. Se graduó en percusión por el Instituto de Artes de la UNESP y realizó su doctorado en Comunicación y Semiótica por la PUC-SP con la tesis "Sonidos de Silicio: Cuerpos y Máquinas Haciendo Música". Fue investigador asociado y profesor en el Programa de Estudios Postgraduados en Comunicación y Semiótica de la PUC-SP de 1997 a 2002. Durante ese periodo coordinó el Centro de Lenguaje Musical (CLM) junto con el compositor Silvio Ferraz. Ha desarrollado amplia actividad artística como compositor y músico electroacústico. Sus composiciones para diferentes formaciones camerísticas y medios electrónicos fueron presentadas en diversos teatros y festivales de música en Brasil y en el exterior, además de grabadas en Disco Compacto. En los últimos años ha desarrollado tecnologías y programas para ejecución en tiempo real y colaborado en la creación de diversos espectáculos multimedia. Como investigador, se ha dedicado particularmente al estudio y utilización de nuevas tecnologías musicales. Es coordinador en un Proyecto Temático financiado por la Fapesp, en el área de acústica de salas. Entre 1994 y 1995 hizo una práctica como investigador asociado en el Center for New Music and Audio Technologies (CNMAT) de la Universidad de California en Berkeley, desarrollando una investigación sobre sistemas musicales interactivos (Beca CNPq). En 2003 realizó otra práctica como investigador visitante en el Electronic Music Studio de la McGill University en Montreal, Canadá (Beca Fapesp). Es autor del libro "Música: Proceso y Dinámica" (1993) y casi 40 textos publicados en anales de congresos científicos, revistas y libros especializados, varios de ellos en el exterior. Sus áreas de interés son: música y tecnología, gesto, interacción, acústica musical y desarrollo de programas y composiciones en el ambiente de programación MAX/MSP. De sus obras se destacan: Cícero (2003), para sistema electrónico interactivo; DRU (1998), para cinta magnética; Corda e Cabaça (1999), para cinta magnética.
