Abstract
<p>Un suivi quantitatif et qualitatif de trois différents types d’ouvrages de contrôle des eaux pluviales en fin de réseau a été réalisé au Québec : un bassin sec (BS), un bassin sec avec canal d’écoulement central (BSC) et un bassin à retenue permanente (BRP). Les taux d’enlèvement de divers paramètres physico-chimiques (matières en suspension (MES), phosphore, azote, métaux, anions et hydrocarbures pétroliers) ont été calculés. Les taux d’enlèvement des MES sont de 14%, 69% et 87% respectivement pour les BS, BSC et BRP. Dans le même ordre, les taux d’enlèvement du phosphore total sont de 0%, 62% et 87%. Les ouvrages de rétention ont tendance à accumuler les sels de voirie, ce qui se traduit par des taux d’enlèvement de -28%, -64% et -244% pour les BS, BSC et BRP, respectivement. Alors, il y a une augmentation des chlorures de l’entrée à la sortie des ouvrages lors des événements pluvieux. Afin d’évaluer l’effet des ouvrages de rétention sur l’intégrité biologique des milieux récepteurs, 18 cours d’eau ont été échantillonnés afin de déterminer l’Indice Diatomées de l’Est du Canada (IDEC). Les bassins de rétention permettent généralement de maintenir l’intégrité biologique des milieux récepteurs entre l’amont et l’aval de l’exutoire des ouvrages (n=7). En absence de bassin de rétention, la médiane de l’indice IDEC d’intégrité biologique des milieux récepteurs diminue de 8 points (n=11) en aval des exutoires par rapport à l’amont.<br /><br />Three types of stormwater ponds were studied in the province of Quebec : one detention pond (BS), one detention pond with a central canal for small rain events (BSC) and one retention pond (BRP). The removal of various pollutants (total suspended solids (TSS), phosphorous, nitrogen, metals, anions, petroleum hydrocarbons) was calculated. The median removal rates of TSS were 14%, 69% and 87% respectively for the BS, BSC and BRP. In the same order, the median removal rates for phosphorus were 0%, 62% and 87%. The ponds seemed to accumulate road salts which was evident by a median removal rates of -28%, -64% and -244% which indicates an increase in the concentration of chlorides during sampled rain events for the BS, BSC and BRP, respectively. In order to evaluate the downstream effects of stormwater ponds, the biological integrity of 18 streams were assessed using the Eastern Canada Diatom Index (IDEC). The stormwater ponds maintained stream biological integrity with the median of data indicating no change between the upstream and downstream IDEC values (n=7). On the other hand, the absence of stormwater ponds caused a median drop of 8 points on the IDEC scale (n=11) from upstream to downstream of the stormwater outlet.</p>
