Notre étude, qui constitue un complément à la recherche « Relations ethniques et construction du curriculum : le traitement du monde musulman dans le matériel didactique québécois et ontarien » (CRSH, 2005-2008), menée par les professeures Marie Mc Andrew (Université de Montréal), Denise Helly (Institut national de la recherche scientifique) et Mehrunnisa Ahmad Ali (Ryerson University), consiste à analyser les perceptions du traitement curriculaire de l’islam, du monde musulman et des minorités musulmanes par des cégépiens québécois de confession musulmane. Les résultats de l’analyse thématique de vingt entretiens semi-directifs permettent de mieux comprendre la manière dont les sujets perçoivent les curricula formel et réel liés à ces questions. Par ailleurs, à travers l’étude du rapport aux savoirs des enseignants et des enseignés sur la religion musulmane, nous tenterons de déterminer la manière dont les jeunes musulmans gèrent les conflits engendrés par le traitement stéréotypé de l’islam et des musulmans à l’école québécoise. Enfin, nous verrons comment le rapport conflictuel aux savoirs institutionnels des participants influe sur leur construction identitaire et sur leur sentiment d’appartenance au Québec et au Canada.
