Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Although my family immigrated to Canada from the
\nNetherlands when I was one year of age, I have always
\nbeen aware of the fact that I have no birthright to
\nthis country which is my home. I have always been
\naware of two points of view in my life and have spent
\nmuch emotional energy balancing this tension.
\nThis dissertation provided me with an avenue to
\nexamine the visions of artists of Dutch Canadian
\nheritage who, like myself, experienced this dualism.
\nTheir literary expressions of this dualism permitted me
\nto explore the inherent tensions and determine what
\nunique resolutions they may have discovered along the
\nway.
\nThe Canadian attitude to the ethnic and cultural
\ndiversity in our society is a changing one. Our
\nfederal government takes pride in Canada's
\nmulticultural mosaic, recognizing it as a rich resource
\nin which all Canadians share. The ethnic dimension of
\nCanadian society, past and present, is one that needs examination if we are to understand fully the contours
\nand nature of Canadian society and identity. Studies
\nof Canadian history and literature have been largely
\ncontrolled by the people of British or French origin.
\nDue perhaps to fewer numbers, difference in keenness of
\nsense of origin and identity, the immigrant experience
\nitself, and the sheer force of Canadianism, other
\ngroups have been relatively silent until quite
\nrecently. Groups such as the Dutch, who have
\nestablished themselves in Canada within the last
\nhundred years or so, have traditions, values and
\nvisions they cherish, and particular members of this
\ngroup have begun to express those in imaginative works.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
