La Alhambra ha sido y será siempre uno de los monumentos más importantes de nuestro patrimonio. Esta ciudad palatina ha sido estudiada por muchos eruditos y representa el esplendor de la cultura nazarí. Existe mucha información al respecto, aunque aún hoy en día se siguen aportando documentos con nueva información que nos hace entender de manera más clara como vivían los árabes durante su estancia en Al-Ándalus. La razón de los primeros asentamientos en lo alto de esta colina fue fundamentalmente estratégica, pero esto comportó la traía de agua desde lejos por medio de una singular infraestructura: la llamada posteriormente acequia Real. La acequia Real se abría paso con una suave pendiente por todo el Cerro del Sol hasta llegar al Generalife y posteriormente a la Alhambra, controlada por partidores, surtidores y compuertas que ayudaban a regar sus campos, sus baños y llenar sus albercas y aljibes. En este trabajo se analiza el sistema de abastecimiento hidráulico desde su origen, el río Darro, hasta sus numerosas ramifi caciones por toda la ciudad de Granada, pasando por los distintos edifi cios de la ciudad palatina de la Alhambra. Se irán describiendo los distintos elementos, además de ubicarlos en el conjunto y desarrollar su funcionamiento y el ingenio con el que fueron diseñados y construidos. Todo este análisis se centra en el estudio del agua, un bien muy preciado para esta cultura, no solo por su necesidad vital sino también por su simbología. Dicho análisis se consigue mediante la aportación de fotos y planos de elaboración propia creados por la toma 1 en numerosos viajes realizados en los últimos meses.
