Abstract
Zeytine dayalı üretim ve ticaretle 19. yüzyıl boyunca parlak bir dönem yaşayan Ayvalık’ın ekonomik alandaki bu başarısı, kentte zengin bir kültür ortamının yaratılmasını sağlamıştır. Bu ortamın izleri Ayvalık’taki kentsel dokunun oluşumundan, kentteki yapı tiplerine ve konutların biçimlenişine kadar pek çok ayrıntıda bugün de izlenir. Cunda ya da 1923’ten sonraki adıyla Alibey, geçmişte Ayvalık’ın ekonomik etki alanı içinde ancak, ayrı bir belediyeye sahip yaklaşık 5000 nüfuslu bir yerleşmedir. Günümüzde Ayvalık’ın bir mahallesi durumunda olan Cunda’daki konutlar, Ayvalık’taki örneklere pek çok açıdan benzemekle birlikte, gerek doku özellikleri gerekse konut nitelikleriaçısından farklılıklar sunarlar. Cunda yerleşmesinin doku özellikleri ve Cunda Konutu’nun niteliklerini tanımlamayı amaçlayan bu çalışma, 1986 yılında yazar tarafından ODTÜ’de yapılan yüksek lisans tezinden yararlanılarak hazırlanmıştır.Cunda’nın 1923’te başlayan mübadele süreci öncesi tarihine ilişkin kaynaklar sınırlı olmakla birlikte; çalışmada, tarihi verilerle günümüze ulaşan geleneksel konut dokusu ilişkisi irdelenerek, konutlara yönelik tipolojik tanımlar geliştirmiştir. Bu amaçla araştırmanın ilk bölümünde Ayvalık ve özelde Cunda tarihi ve planlama çalışmaları incelenmiş, konut dokusuna yönelik bilgiler ortaya çıkarılmaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışmanın ikinci bölümünde Cunda Kentsel Sit alanı geneli ile tez kapsamında ayrıntılı olarak incelenen Taksiyarhis Kilisesi çevresinde yer alan ayrıntılı Çalışma Alanı verilerine dayanarak doku/parsel/yapı ölçeğinde özellikler tanımlanmıştır. Bu çalışmalar ışığında son bölümde ise Cunda konutu üzerine yapılan tipolojik araştırmanın sonuçları sunulmuştur.
