Abstract
Desde el momento en que elegí estudiar la Licenciatura en Trabajo Social sabia que quería conocer más sobre lo que sucede al interior de las cárceles, en relación a la institución y a los actores que forman parte de ella. Fue de esta manera que a medida que avanzaba en la carrera me iba introduciendo más en el conocimiento de este campo de intervención. Llego el momento de elegir donde realizar mis practicas preprofesionales y ahí fui, a la Unidad Penal Nº 11 de Piñero. En esa Unidad estuve un año y medio y por cuestiones ligadas a otras materias debí retrasar mi continuidad. Al año siguiente me toco nuevamente elegir y en esa oportunidad fue que lo hice por la Unidad de Recuperación de mujeres Nº 5. Es ahí cuando me surgieron varias inquietudes en relación a cómo iba a ser mi proceso de inserción en la misma. Todo rondaba en relación a las cuestiones de género, como me iban a recibir, que les iba a poder aportar, que me aportarían las mujeres y la institución también. Era un camino distinto y largo, pero interesante a construir en conjunto. Esta tesina surge de ese proceso de inserción, en donde además de haber comprendido muchas cuestiones relacionadas a estas mujeres, me surgieron interrogantes los cuales con el tiempo se transformaron en objetivos de este trabajo. Mi intención es visibilizar esta problemática que atraviesa a toda la sociedad en su conjunto
