Abstract
Que la langue soit un enjeu de pouvoir, cela nous semble bien une évidence; pouvoir politique d’abord, mais aussi symbolique et économique. Nous avons donc souhaité mettre en lumière les problématiques qui réunissent langue et pouvoir, ou encore les langues et les pouvoirs au pluriel, thématique qui nous a occupés ici pendant cette journée qui réunit des linguistes et des littéraires. Dans le contexte qui nous a intéressés, celui du Québec et du Canada francophone, le lien entre langue et pouvoir est tellement étroit qu’il finit par entraîner la création de néologismes, tel Langagement, mot que Lise Gauvin invente pour dire à quel point la littérature québécoise engagée (mais aussi toute la littérature du Québec pourrait-on dire) rime avec la question de la langue. Dans ces actes, différents espaces discursifs seront pris pour exemple, comme la littérature, les dictionnaires et le discours social, tous ces terrains où se joue admirablement le rapport entre la langue et le pouvoir.
