Contexte Les consultations en ostéopathie augmentent dans la province du Québec au Canada depuis les années 1980. Malgré un gain en popularité, l'ostéopathie n'est pas enseignée dans un cadre universitaire et n'est pas considérée comme une profession réglementée. L'objectif de ce projet est de tenter de dresser un profil démographique des ostéopathes, idées concernant la science et la pratique de l'ostéopathie et la formation souhaitée de l'ostéopathie. Méthodes Les participants ont été recrutés pour répondre au questionnaire inspiré d'une étude américaine et validé par l'équipe. Le questionnaire a été envoyé par courriel (SurveyMonkey), via les différentes associations d'ostéopathes et le média social Facebook. Résultats 229 répondants (148 femmes et 81 hommes) ont répondu au questionnaire : âge moyen de 38 ± 9 ans ; nombre moyen d'années de pratique : 5,0 ± 5,0 ans ; 31 % affirment travailler entre 21 à 30 heures par semaine pour des recettes entre 41 000 et 60 000 dollars canadien ; 63 % des répondants ont complété un grade universitaire avant ou après d'entreprendre leurs études en ostéopathie qui s'échelonnent en moyenne sur 5,4 ± 1,3 années. La majorité des ostéopathes québécois perçoit la recherche en ostéopathie au Québec comme étant moins active comparativement aux autres pays. La majorité est en faveur de la création d'un programme universitaire afin de combler cette lacune. Conclusion Les données de ce questionnaire pourront être utiles pour le processus de législation de l'ostéopathie et de son entrée en milieu universitaire.
