ALFRED, NY The Alfred University men's soccer team lost to visiting conference foe RIT, 3-0, Friday evening at Merrill Field.RIT (5-2-1, 1-0 E8) was held scoreless in the first period, but notched a hat trick in the second half.The Tiger's pounced ten minutes into the second quarter as Chuck Marion scored on a one timer assisted by Daniel Holowaty.Allen Nicholson tallied a goal in the 79th minute, and Mark Frisicano put an exclamation point on the contest scoring with four seconds remaining.Alfred (1-5-1, 0-1 E8) struggled to find scoring opportunities, as they only had three shots on RIT's keeper.The Tigers' also held a 21-11 shooting advantage for the game.Junior goalkeeper Patrick Grimmer (Bath, NY/Haverling) was busy all game as he faced 12 shots, stopping nine.Alan Smith played all 90:00 minutes in goal for RIT, making three saves.AU is in action next on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 4 p.m. at RPI.
