Abstract
Skripsi ini mengkaji tentang sejarah perkembangan, yang berjudul Sejarah dan Perkembangan NU Cabang Surabaya pada tahun 1929-1939. Untuk mengetahui beberapa permasalahan yang terdapat dalam penelitian tersebut maka dirumuskan beberapa rumusan masalah. Yang pertama mengenai sejarah berdirinya NU Cabang Surabaya, yang kedua Perkembangan Ranting NU di Cabang Surabaya pada tahun 1929-1939 dan yang ketiga mengenai tentang hambatan-hambatan yang dialami oleh NU cabang Surabaya pada tahun 1929-1939. Penulisan skripsi ini disusun dengan menggunakan pendekatan sejarah dan sosiologi yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan Sejarah dan Perkembangan NU Cabang Surabaya pada tahun 1929-1939, dan melakukan metode penelitian sejarah dengan empat tahap, yaitu: heuristik atau pengumppulan data, kritik sumber, interpretasi atau penafsiran dan histografi atau penyajian. Dan penulisan ini menggunakan teori kemasyarakatan yang dikemukakan oleh Mac Iver. Dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa Sejarah berdirinya NU Cabang Surabaya didirikan pada tahun 1929 di Surabaya, dan dari segi perkembangannya dapat mendirikan kring-kring di tiap daerah dan memiliki pembangunan amal usaha seperti, masjid, madrasah, dan koperasi. Dan dari sisi hambatan, NU cabang pada tahun itu mengalami hambatan pada masalah taqlid, masalah dalam kemadrasaannya, susahnya perekonomian dan susahnya dalam berpolitik di masa kolonial Belanda.
