Abstract
In the 60's, in face of the different influences and problems that the human being has generated to nature, a concern with the environment and how to preserve it arose. Among the sectors that most intervene in the environment is civil construction, so it was necessary to search for ways in which this sector could mitigate its interference to the environment, it was in this scenario that the wood frame constructive system began to gain its space. , evolving from wood construction techniques used in the medieval period in central and northern Europe and becoming the technological system that is used and established today in several countries such as: Japan, Canada, the United States and other European countries. The wood frame has several qualities that make the construction sector more efficient in productivity and sustainability, among them are: clean and dry works producing less waste and using little water, capture and retention of CO2, forest management, productivity and constructive agility, quality manufacturing, energy efficiency, comfort, among other aspects. When compared to the traditional and artisanal system of Brazilian masonry, the wood frame stands out in several areas such as sustainability and efficiency, however in Brazil there is still some fear regarding wooden constructions, largely due to the lack of knowledge, both in terms of laymen and professionals, this implies a constructive sector still growing in the country and lacking publicity. Through literary reviews of works focused on sustainability, wood and wood frame, information about the ecological advantages of the construction system was separated, as well as its characteristics, benefits and construction method, to contribute to the dissemination of knowledge of the system.
