Jurilinguistique comparée : langage du droit, latin et langues modernes (2012) est la première édition française d'un livre de Heikki Mattila paru en finnois en 2002, puis en anglais en 2006. Publiée au Québec, cette version a été réalisée en collaboration avec Jean-Claude Gémar. Le compte rendu rédigé pour la revue ZERL présente l'ouvrage dans une perspective francophone, en mettant l'accent sur les deux principales nouveautés de cette édition : une section sur le norvégien (pp. 107-115) et un chapitre sur l'espagnol (pp. 355-396). H. Mattila traite du langage du droit tel qu'il se concrétise dans différentes langues, en adoptant une démarche qualifiée d'« historico-culturelle » (p. 36). Il s'intéresse particulièrement aux phénomènes de contact, de transfert, d'échange, qui ont lieu dans l'espace interculturel. Les débats en cours sur le droit multilingue, et sur ses enjeux pratiques et symboliques, peuvent puiser dans Jurilinguistique comparée des connaissances factuelles sur les expériences passées et présentes, dont l'ouvrage reflète la complexité et la diversité. Le lecteur y trouvera notamment des éléments originaux pour réfléchir au développement actuel des français juridiques.
