Penggunaan energi terus meningkat seiring dengan meningkatnya pertumbuhan energi, hal ini berpengaruh pada cadangan sumber energi yang semakin menipis. Diperlukan alternatif sumber energi lain untuk mengatasi peningkatan penggunaan energi, salah satu alternatif yang melimpah yaitu energi matahari yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Surya (PLTS).

\nTujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah layak dibangun pembangkit listrik tenaga surya on-grid pada gedung departemen Teknik Elektro Universitas andalas. Desain PLTS dirancang menggunakan perhitungan dan analisis kelayakan finansial menggunakan discounted cashflow analisis(DCA) dengan 4 parameter yaitu NPV,IRR, Payback Period, dan CoE.

\nHasil Perancangan yang diperoleh mendapatkan 2 skenario yaitu skenario A dan skenario B. Hasil perancangan PLTS skenario A menggunakan 2 unit inverter Canadian Solar CSI-50KTL dengan kapasitas 50 kW dan modul pv 555 Wp Jinko Solar JKM 555M-72HL4 sebanyak 200 unit. Dan skenario B menggunakan inverter SMA 2 unit dengan kapasitas inverter 50 kW dan modul surya merk Jinko Solar JKM555M dengan kapasitas 555 Wp sebanyak 98 unit untuk tahap 1 dan 98 unit tahap 2. Dengan total energi 3.507.557 kWh dan 2.636.165 kWh serta biaya investasi sebesar Rp. 825.396.000 dan Rp. 812.264.700. Hasil kelayakan finansial didapatkan proyek layak diwujudkan dengan metode DCA dengan parameter NPV diperoleh hasil postif, IRR sebesar 34,4159% dan 34,6376% dan Payback period pada tahun ke-4, dan CoE sebesar Rp. 294/kWh dan Rp. 367/kWh memenuhi kriteria kelayakan finansial.
