Cette étude constitue une évaluation de la performance de DeepL Pro sur un texte juridique. Elle se fonde, dans un premier temps, sur des préalables qui 1) exposent la technicité et la complexité du langage juridique 2) définissent les critères de qualité en traduction juridique et les critères spécifiques au corpus test 3) présentent l’état de l’art en TA, ainsi que les méthodes d’évaluation et leurs limites. Finalement, DeepL Pro est évalué sur un arrêt de la Cour suprême du Canada avec une méthode humaine, à savoir l’annotation d’erreur avec la typologie Multidimensional Quality Metrics (MQM) et une traduction de référence. L’analyse du texte produit par le système contribue à exposer les forces et les faiblesses de la traduction automatique neuronale, en vue de déterminer comment et dans quelle mesure cet outil peut être utile au traducteur. L’intégration d’un glossaire permet également d’évaluer la pertinence de cette (faible) forme de spécialisation. Les résultats obtenus indiquent que DeepL Pro n’a pas produit une traduction conforme aux exigences de qualité requises et que, par conséquent, son utilisation dans ce cas de figure présente un intérêt limité.
