Abstract
RESUMNous avons valu empiriquement la relation entre le dveloppement des marchs boursiers et la croissance conomique au Canada.Les donnes, sur la base de quatre modles sur douze estims, suggrent un impact positif de long terme du dveloppement du march boursier sur la croissance conomique.La croissance conomique tant mesure par la variation du Produit Intrieur Brut par tte et par la variation de la productivit du travail et le dveloppement du march boursier approxim par la taille du march boursier, le taux de rotation en volume gale au rapport des transactions en volume sur la capitalisation boursire en volume et la profondeur du march.A court les donnes rvlent un impact positif encore plus significatif du dveloppement du march boursier approxim par la taille du march boursier sur la croissance conomique mesure par la variation du Produit Intrieur Brut par tte.Les tests de causalit des Granger mettent en vidence une relation positive significative unidirectionnelle.La direction de causalit va du dveloppement du march boursier (approxim par la profondeur du march) la croissance conomique (mesure par la productivit du travail) plutt que l'inverse.Des rsultats cependant prendre avec une certaine prudence tant donn la petite taille des chantillons.
