La place du livre québécois dans les journaux est un sujet qui suscite un grand intérêt auprès des professionnels du livre et pourtant peu d'études ont été faites là-dessus, mis à part celles de Jean-Paul Baillargeon et Michel de la Durantaye en 1998 et 2001. En dépouillant quatre journaux québécois (La Presse, Le Devoir, Le Soleil et Voir ) de l'année 2002-2003, j'ai pu voir l'espace réservé aux livres québécois et aux livres étrangers au point de vue tant de la visibilité que de la présence. Mon hypothèse de départ était que le livre québécois est négligé pour laisser la place au livre étranger. Mon objectif était de démontrer que les journaux ne consacrent pas assez de pages aux oeuvres québécoises. À travers cette recherche, j'ai étudié la présence et la visibilité de l'édition québécoise dans les journaux et j'ai analysé la manière dont elle est traitée. Pour parvenir à des résultats convaincants, j'ai mesuré l'espace éditorial et publicitaire des cahiers littéraires des quatre journaux et j'ai calculé en unités le nombre de fois qu'une maison fît l'objet d'une critique ou d'une publicité dans l'un des journaux. Ainsi, j'ai comparé l'espace réservé à l'édition québécoise et celui réservé à l'édition étrangère.--Résumé abrégé par UMI.
