Cette livraison d’ethnographiques.org, coordonnée par Nicolas Adell et Sophie Chevalier, aborde à nouveaux frais un problème ancien : celui des rapports entre la main et l’esprit. Dans les dernières années, des travaux de plus en plus nombreux, réalisés sous les sceaux différents de l’anthropologie de l’apprentissage, de l’anthropologie cognitive ou de l’anthropologie des savoirs, ont contribué à complexifier l’approche que nous pouvions avoir du partage entre les « faits de l’esprit » et les « actions de la main ». Ce numéro a pour ambition de réévaluer, dans les processus de réalisation de l’action, « la part de la main ». Et ce à partir de l’examen de différentes situations qui sont autant de défis ethnographiques : comment décrire le tour de main ? comment rendre compte des sensations haptiques et du rôle qu’elles tiennent dans l’élaboration de savoirs et de savoir-faire ? comment restituer la « raison des gestes » ? Autant de questionnements auxquels se sont appliqués à répondre des ethnologues, des historiens mais également des acteurs à partir, entre autres, des mondes du sport, du travail, de l’art, ou du soin.
