A l'heure où certaines règles posées par le Code de la Santé Public sont remises en cause, notamment celles concernant la propriété des officines, le monopole pharmaceutique ou encore le maillage territorial, il est légitime pour l'officinal de s'inquiéter et de s'interroger sur le devenir de sa profession. Quelles seraient les conséquences de la dérèglementation et comment parvenir à y faire face ? Comment se construire une nouvelle image afin d éviter d être reléguer au rang de vendeur de boîtes de médicaments ? Quelles sont les nouvelles missions ouvertes aux officinaux grâce aux mutations de notre époque et de notre environnement ? Face à un tel questionnement, il est intéressant de chercher certaines réponses en étudiant un autre modèle de pratique de la pharmacie. Le modèle québécois semble être un très bon exemple puisqu il possède une ambivalence frappante : les pharmaciens québécois ont une forte notoriété alors qu ils exercent leur métier dans des drugstores . Est-ce parce qu ils sont plus compétents ? Est-ce parce qu ils sont en avance sur certaines pratiques comme la pharmacie clinique et les soins pharmaceutiques ? Et si c est le cas, pourquoi ne pas en faire autant ? Ou alors, existe-t-il en France de nouvelles pratiques similaires, susceptibles de dynamiser et de revaloriser notre profession, et qui mériteraient d être développées davantage ?
