Abstract
Ao longo da literatura é afirmado que as crianças com Perturbação do Espectro do Autismo (PEA) revelam muitos dos sintomas de pobre processamento sensorial que têm implicações consideravelmente negativas não só ao nível do envolvimento em ocupações significativas e satisfatórias, como na participação familiar, nomeadamente na hora da refeição. Este estudo tem como objetivo geral verificar como o processamento sensorial influencia a alimentação em crianças com PEA, com idades compreendidas entre os 5 e 6 anos. A amostra foi constituída por cuidadores de 33 crianças com PEA com idades compreendidas entre os 5 e 6 anos, no distrito de Lisboa. A sua participação neste estudo foi feita através do preenchimento de dois questionários distintos: Perfil Sensorial e Escala de Alimentação do Hospital Pediátrico de Montreal (EAHPM). No final foi efetuada a análise descritiva de frequências e a correlação de Pearson para relacionar o total da escala da alimentação (EAHPM) e os scores do perfil sensorial tanto a nível fatorial como de secção. É possível constatar correlações significativas entre diversos fatores e secções do perfil sensorial e a existência de problemas na alimentação, considerando-se assim preditores, sendo que muitos deles se auto relacionam na explicação da existência de problemas.
