Abstract
Minangkahau adalah suatu wilayah yang menganut sistem kekerabatan matrilineal yang memandang lebih seorang perempuan. Apabila dikaitkan dengan pemikiran Abdul Karim \nAmrullah, sebagai seorang pembaharu di wilayah tersebut, dapat dikatakan bertentangan dengan budaya yang ada. Ternyata pandangannya lebih bersifat patriarkhi yang memandang posisi laki-laki lebih unggul dari perempuan sebagaimana tersebut dalam naskah Cermin Terus.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian sejarah yang ingin menghasilkan proses-proses pengkisahan atas peristiwa yang terjadi pada masa lampau. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode sejarah, yang merupakan suatu proses menguji dan menganalisis \nsecara kritis rekaman dan peninggalan masa lampau guna menemukan data objektif dan dipercaya serta melakukan sintesis terhadap data, agar menjadi suatu hal yang dapat dipercaya. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa Minangkabau sebagai tanah kelahiran Abdul Karim Amrullah dari dulu hingga sekarang tetap menganut sistem kekerabatan Matrilineal bukan Matriarkhal. Selain itu Faktor yang mendukung penulisan naskah Cermin Terus disebabkan adanya fenomena sosial kemasyarakatan yang memperihatinkan setelah berkembangnya Muhammadiyah dan berdirinya Aisiyah. Posisi perempuan dalam Naskah Cermin Terus ini merupakan suatu pembagian yang didasarkan atas hubungan patriarkhi.
