La présente étude vise à identifier des pistes de solutions afin d’améliorer le transport en \ncommun, et ce, en essayant de mieux comprendre la forme des villes, la mobilité individuelle \net les possibilités que représentent les systèmes de transport cybernétiques. Puisque le \ntransport en commun fait partie des solutions avantageuses pour l’avenir de l’environnement, \nil faut tenter d’améliorer sa flexibilité afin de mieux répondre aux besoins. \nL’approche utilisée se base sur l’analyse des différents moyens de transport motorisés \naccessibles aux citoyens de la ville de Laval (automobile, autobus) selon trois types de \ncritères, soit les critères techniques, environnementaux, socio-économiques et sur \nl’identification de sites d’implantation optimale d’un système de transport cybernétique soit, \nle Système de transport cybernétique Serpentine. \nLes résultats obtenus ont permis d’identifier trois sites d’implantation les plus \ncomplémentaires au réseau de transport en commun d’autobus actuellement en fonction de la \nSTL. Les retombées envisagées par cette recherche sont environnementales par le \ndéveloppement d’un réseau de STC ayant une faible émission de GES et par la réalisation \nd’un réseau complémentaire et plus flexible répondant mieux aux besoins de mobilité \nindividuelle des Lavallois. Ils sont également socio-économiques par la création d’emplois \nlocaux. \nLa réalisation d’un prototype de STC à Laval va permettre à la Ville de devenir un chef de \nfile québécois en matière de transport en commun à faible émission. Un essai est \nrecommandé afin de bien évaluer les impacts reliés à l’exploitation d’un tel réseau auprès des \ninstances gouvernementales.
