Cette étude analyse la relation entre la gentrification et l’évolution de la part des aînés dans l’île de Montréal. Il existe une diversité de recherches sur la gentrification et les migrations des personnes. Cependant, il y a très peu d’analyses sur le déplacement des personnes âgées qui en résulte. Les résultats de notre étude empirique nous révèlent de façon générale qu’une aire de diffusion pauvre (ou avec un faible niveau d’éducation) qui s’est gentrifiée, a une croissance de la part des personnes âgées plus faible par rapport à une aire de diffusion pauvre (ou avec un faible niveau d’éducation) qui ne s’est pas gentrifiée. En outre, par rapport aux aires de diffusion qui ont un revenu élevé (ou avec un niveau d’éducation élevé), la croissance des personnes âgées dans les aires de diffusion pauvres (ou avec un faible niveau d’éducation) est plus faible.
