Abstract
Achilleus Tatios kilétéről, életkörülményeiről és koráról vajmi keveset tudni, a róla szóló \ntudósítások megbízhatósága bizonytalan. Életét és írói működését a tudományos közvélemény \nszerint a Kr. u. 2. század második felére tehetjük. Regénye, a Kleitophón és Leukippé története, a \nkorábbi görög regények közül a bizánci olvasók kedvence, egyike az ókori görögség „ideális” vagy \nszerelmi regényeinek. A Kleitophón és Leukippé története nyolc, rendszerint hangsúlyos, a \ncselekmény valamely fontos pontján befejeződő, és a befejezést stilárisan is hangsúlyozni kívánó \nkönyvet számlál, és világosan négy, két-két könyv terjedelmű tematikai egységre oszlik, melyek \ntagolódását Achilleus Tatios rétorikusan csillogóra hangszerelt ekphrasisai külön is jelzik. \nUgyanakkor szerkesztésbeli sajátosságai miatt ezt a regényt érte a legtöbb bírálat is. Az előadás a \nregény elemzésén keresztül utóbbi kérdéshez is adalékokkal kíván szolgálni.
