RE:FORMI – Muutakin kuin katutaidetta : miten purkutaide kytkeytyy katutaiteeseen ja mikä tekee siitä ainutlaatuisen näyttelykonseptin?

Abstract
Purkutaidenäyttelyt ovat yleistyneet Suomessa 2020-luvulla ja niitä on järjestetty muun muassa Keravalla, Oulussa, Tampereella ja Turussa. RE:FORMI – Our blueprints -purkutaidenäyttely järjestettiin Oulun Pikisaaressa kesällä vuonna 2023, jossa vieraili 20 000 kävijää näyttelyn aikana. Tutkielmassani käsittelin RE:FORMI – Our blueprints -purkutaidenäyttelyn ainutlaatuisuutta, sekä sen yhteyttä katutaiteeseen. Tutkielmani on laadullinen tutkimus ja sen aineiston tuottamiseen käytin puolistrukturoitua teemahaastattelua. Haastattelin tapahtuman tuottajia Jarkko Keskiahoa ja Joni Kestiä. Suomen graffitikulttuurin historian selvittämiseen käytin suurimmaksi osaksi Helsinki Graffiti -kirjaa. Purkutaidenäyttelykonseptin taustoihin hyödynsin Kutsumusjuttu (2024) -dokumenttia sekä verkosta löytyviä artikkeleita aiheesta. Haastatteluaineiston perusteella purkutaiteen ja katutaiteen yhteys oli selkeä, sillä se näkyi taidemuodoissa ja -välineissä, lokaatioissa sekä teosten väliaikaisuudessa. Suurin erottava tekijä oli purkutaiteen luvallisuus ja sen mahdollistamat laajemmat taidemuodot. Lisäksi purkutaide vaikutti tietoperustan perusteella avoimemmalta ja helpommin lähestyttävämmältä kuin perinteinen katutaide, jossa hierarkia vanhojen ja uusien tekijöiden välillä korostui. Haastatteluaineiston perusteella RE:FORMI -näyttelyn ainutlaatuisuus rakentui immersiivisestä ja matalan kynnyksen kävijäkokemuksesta sekä näyttelytilan paikallisesta merkityksestä – erityisesti Pikisaaressa asuville ja entisen koulurakennuksen henkilökunnalle. Tulkintani mukaan nämä samat seikat selittävät RE:FORMI:n suosiota Oulussa ja purkutaidenäyttelyiden suosiota ylipäätään.
