L’objectif de la présente étude est d’observer l’influence des installations et du mobilier urbain sur les comportements des piétons et des cyclistes sur les rues piétonnes estivales de Montréal. L’étude se décline en trois objectifs spécifiques, soit documenter les trajectoires empruntées par les cyclistes et les piétons en fonction du lieu, des déviations, des arrêts et des interactions sur les différentes rues piétonnes en lien avec leurs aménagements; documenter la présence des piétons à l’arrêt, dit stationnaires, ainsi que leur utilisation des installations; et analyser les caractéristiques des interactions entre les piétons et les cyclistes en lien avec l’aménagement des rues. Cette recherche a démontré l’efficacité des bollards, qui permettent une réduction des interactions piétons-cyclistes, les bénéfices de la présence plus importante de terrasses et de mobilier urbain tant pour l’utilisation stationnaire de l’espace que pour la cohabitation piétons-cyclistes, et que les mesures de ralentissement se trouvant au centre de la rue, telles que des bacs de plantation ou des murets de béton, affectent négativement les trajectoires des piétons et des cyclistes, en augmentant le nombre de déviations, d’arrêts et d’interactions entre les piétons et les cyclistes.
