Abstract
El presente estudio tiene como propósito contextualizar la trascendencia histórica la reciente corriente económica heterodoxa, la economía de la felicidad, donde se pretenderá determinar relevancia de la vivienda para que los miembros del hogar se declaren satisfechos con la vida; basándose en el programa Medellín cómo vamos, con el informe de la Encuesta de Calidad de Vida del año 2013. Para conseguir este objetivo, se estima un modelo de elección discreta, así mismo, se hace hincapié que el presente estudio tiene como punto de referencia la investigación El ser y el tener de los habitantes del municipio de Medellín como determinantes de la satisfacción con la vida de Gómez y Garzón (2016). Los principales resultados según la ECV 2015, es que tener una vivienda propia te genera una mayor satisfacción con la vida que cualquier otra condición, pero se tiene presente de la valoración del individuo ante sus propósitos personales. Además es interesante el resultado que la seguridad del barrio tiene menor efecto marginal que el servicio de internet, dejando esto sujeto a la adaptación de la inseguridad en Medellin y la priorización de otras condiciones sociales relevantes a la satisfacción con la vida
